Free GoGo internet in-flight

GoGo in-flight internet has become increasingly more expensive throughout the years with speeds rivaling dial-up.  Travelers looking to stay connected have to swallow hard hard at the steep cost of shitty internet, especially on international flights.  These are the confirmed ways around paying for GoGo in-flight internet – some less ethical than others.

T-Mobile Hack for GoGo Internet

T-Mobile customers enjoy 1 hour of complimentary internet.  After the session expires, users can extend the service with free messaging services (iMessage, Viber, etc) for the remainder of the flight.  The marketing materials say this is for domestic flights only, however I have used this internationally many times.

Here’s the hack

  1. While it clearly states “for T-Mobile customers only” – their only method of checking is phone number validation.  Meaning anyone on any carrier can login and get the free hour + messaging just by entering an active T-Mobile customer’s phone number.
  2. In-fact, there is no ability for T-Mobile to block users on international flights.  This means any where GoGo services are available with the T-Mobile login, you’ll be able to logon.

Free internet on Delta equipped flights with smartphones

GoGo has a known loop hole for being able to access the internet outside of the walled garden.  I am not the first or last to publish this information, so if my directions aren’t perfect google it.

Here’s the hack

  1. On Delta equipped flights with Delta Studio (damn near all of them) simply connect your smartphone to the gogoinflight SSID.
  2. Open your browser.
  3. When the splash screen appears, view the tv shows and movies.
  4. Select any TV/movie to watch.
  5. Select the “I need to download the viewer”
  6. Enter the CAPTCHA code.
  7. It will redirect you to your app store, close this.
  8. Have fun surfing for the next 10-15 mins.

I have been able to use this hack multiple times in a row.  NOTE: At one point in the past, they limited your MAC address to two attempts to download.  This is been relaxed lately.

Free internet on Delta equipped flights with laptops

Much like the last hack, you can access the internet for free from your laptop.  This one is a little trickier and requires downloading of a very small browser extension BEFORE your flight.

Here’s the hack (before your fly)

  1. Download and open Chrome browser (if you don’t already have it).
  2. Go to Settings | Extensions
  3. Scroll to bottom, click on “Get more extensions”
  4. Search and install “Chrome UA Spoofer”

Here’s the hack (in flight)

  1. Open chrome, use the UA spoofer to emulate IOS > iPhone6
  2. On Delta equipped flights with Delta Studio (damn near all of them) simply connect your laptop to the gogoinflight SSID.
  3. Open your browser.
  4. When the splash screen appears, view the tv shows and movies.
  5. Select any TV/movie to watch.
  6. Select the “I need to download the viewer”
  7. Enter the CAPTCHA code.
  8. It will redirect you to your app store, close this.
  9. Have fun surfing for the next 10-15 mins.
