Bermuda feels like someone dropped a tiny piece of Britain into the middle of the Atlantic, surrounded it with turquoise water, painted some of the beaches pink and then decided everything should cost significantly more than expected.

First things first: Bermuda isn’t in the Caribbean.

It’s sitting by itself in the Atlantic, hundreds of miles from the U.S. East Coast, apparently perfectly comfortable being geographically misunderstood by half the people booking flights there.

And holy shit, it’s pretty.

The water ranges from turquoise to deep blue, limestone cliffs frame tiny coves, pastel houses cover the hills and Horseshoe Bay delivers the famous pinkish sand you’ve already seen aggressively promoted in tourism photos.

Then there are the shipwrecks.

Bermuda sits beside reefs that spent centuries absolutely ruining sailors’ afternoons, which means divers and snorkelers now get an underwater collection of wrecks scattered around the island.

Transportation adds another layer of entertainment. Visitors can’t simply rent a normal gasoline-powered car, so scooters and small electric vehicles become part of the adventure. Nothing says relaxing island vacation quite like navigating unfamiliar roads on the left while trying to remember which direction the traffic is attempting to kill you from.

Bermuda is also fucking expensive.

Hotels, restaurants and drinks can turn a short island escape into a meaningful financial event.

But Bermuda absolutely delivers visually.

It’s polished, strange, historic, beautiful and wonderfully different from the tropical islands people constantly confuse it with.

Come for the pink beaches.

Stay for the shipwrecks.

Leave after confirming the Bermuda Triangle apparently only makes money disappear.
