The United Arab Emirates feels like someone looked at a massive desert, discovered an unreasonable amount of money, and asked the dangerous question:

What if we just built absolutely fucking everything?

Dubai provides the obvious answer.

The world’s tallest building? Sure. Artificial islands shaped like palm trees? Obviously. Indoor skiing in a desert? Fuck it. Giant shopping malls, seven-star-hotel marketing, supercars sitting in traffic and enough air conditioning to alter regional weather patterns?

Welcome to the UAE.

And honestly, it’s impressive.

The Burj Khalifa is absurdly tall. Dubai’s skyline looks like architects were competing without adult supervision. Abu Dhabi brings its own architectural flex with enormous mosques, museums, luxury hotels and a slightly calmer personality.

Leave the cities and the landscape changes quickly. Desert dunes stretch toward the horizon, mountains appear farther east, and suddenly the UAE feels less like a futuristic shopping mall with highways.

But let’s be clear: this isn’t bargain travel.

Hotels can get expensive. Restaurants can become financial events. Summer temperatures make walking outside feel like opening an industrial oven and climbing inside voluntarily. And if you’re looking for centuries of preserved urban character around every corner, the relentless newness can occasionally feel manufactured.

Because much of it is.

That’s also the fucking point.

The UAE is ambitious, excessive, polished, strange and completely unapologetic about showing off.

Come for the skyscrapers.

Stay because someone built a ski slope inside a shopping mall in the desert and, honestly, you need to see this shit for yourself.
