Taipei’s City Center Uncensored
Taipei’s City Center is a vibrant destination that unexpectedly mirrored many typical western big cities – this isn’t a compliment. I explore the world because I want to experience countries’ unique cultures worldwide. Taipei feels like home, but it is in a different time zone.
While the spirit of Taiwan invites visitors to explore, taste, and connect with the city’s unique features, most of it was bland to me.
Quite possibly, one of the worst features of Taipei’s city center is its location, proximity, and ease of access from the primary international port of entry (Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport – TPE) – it is a solid 90 minutes away by car to the city center, which makes the logistics of exploring this interesting city overly burdensome. Oddly, another airport adjacent to Taipei’s city center (Taipei Songshan Airport – TSA) is also an international port of entry; however, this airport is considerably smaller and primarily serves mainland China and a few other countries.
