Thailand is one of those destinations everyone visits, everyone photographs, everyone talks about, and somehow the fucking place still delivers.

Annoying, really.

Bangkok immediately throws you into the deep end. Temples covered in gold sit beside skyscrapers. Street-food vendors produce meals better than restaurants charging ten times as much. Tuk-tuks weave through traffic using a driving philosophy based primarily on optimism and reincarnation.

Then you leave Bangkok and Thailand changes completely.

Head north for mountains, jungles and temples around Chiang Mai. Head south and you get limestone cliffs exploding out of turquoise water, tropical islands, ridiculous beaches and enough longtail boats to ensure your camera eventually contains the exact same photograph as everyone else’s.

And you know what?

Take the fucking picture. It looks amazing.

Thailand is heavily traveled, and pretending otherwise is ridiculous. Some islands have been developed into submission. Famous attractions can be mobbed. Taxi negotiations occasionally become international diplomacy. Certain nightlife districts make subtlety pack its bags and leave the country entirely.

But Thailand became one of the world’s favorite travel destinations because it is genuinely very good at this shit.

The food is spectacular. Getting around is relatively easy. Hotels can be remarkably affordable. The landscapes are beautiful, and there’s enough variety to build completely different trips without leaving the country.

Thailand is chaotic, delicious, beautiful, touristy and absolutely worth the hype.

Come expecting undiscovered paradise and you’ll be disappointed.

Come expecting spectacular travel with several million other people who had the same idea?

You’ll probably fucking love it.
