Copenhagen is generally safe and easy to navigate, but crowded transport and major attractions attract trick thieves and pickpockets. Copenhagen Police specifically warns that thieves use distraction tactics around tourist sites, shopping areas and public-transport stops. Keep bags closed, valuables in an inside pocket and phones off café tables when strangers create an unnecessary commotion. Remain aware at the airport, Central Station, Nyhavn and busy events, and follow official security instructions. The city’s quieter streets can lower your guard, but your wallet did not receive Danish citizenship and remains perfectly stealable.
